Qualcomm still does not want to do business with Samsung

Qualcomm Wow, things have gone really badly for Samsung’s chip business. After being the best in its field for a while, Samsung Foundry has been losing jobs like crazy. There are a lot of businesses that need TSMC to make chips, which is bad for the company. Things are not looking better, which is a shame. Samsung and Qualcomm have failed to make another deal.

In the past, Qualcomm’s most powerful chips were made by Samsung Foundry. It went on for years, but everything good has to end. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip was made by Samsung Foundry. This chip had problems with getting too hot and draining the battery quickly. Then Qualcomm had TSMC make the same chip, and users noticed a big difference in how well it worked. Qualcomm only changed the foundaries on the chip and didn’t change any of its design.

Clearly, this was a huge setback for Samsung, and things have only gotten worse since then. Rumor has it that Google, one of the last remaining competitors, may switch to TSMC for the Tensor G5 processor. This is despite the fact that Samsung and Google are very much inseparable.

Looks like another deal between Qualcomm and Google didn’t pan out.

Samsung has had a tough time with its chipmaking process, and that’s what made other companies decide to move on. But that doesn’t mean Samsung isn’t looking to win back its old partners.

The company made another move to strike a deal with Qualcomm for the production of its 3nm Snapdragon 8s Elite chip. This is gonna be a less powerful version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung’s been putting in the effort on its 3nm process and making some upgrades, but it looks like it’s still not quite hitting the mark. Qualcomm turned down Samsung’s offer and decided to stick with TSMC instead. TSMC is the only other company that can make chips smaller than 8nm.

Right now, it’s hard to say what Samsung is thinking about its declining fortunes. So, the company is really in a tough spot right now, right? I mean, they’ve seen a massive 95% drop in revenue, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 just didn’t hit the mark. Plus, with other companies jumping ship to TSMC, it’s hard to say what they’ll do next to get back on track. Let’s hope it comes up with a solution before having to cut jobs.
