So heartbroken to share that filmmaker Jeff Baena, who brought us amazing films like “Life After Beth” and “The Little Hours,” and was married to the incredible Aubrey Plaza, has passed away… 💔 OMG, you guys, guess what? TMZ has the scoop!

So, here’s the scoop! Law enforcement sources have shared with TMZ that police and fire crews rushed to a home in the Los Angeles area on Friday around 10:30 AM. They were there for a death investigation after an assistant found him unresponsive. Stay tuned for updates!

Baena was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, and law enforcement has reported that he died by suicide.

So, after scoring his film degree at NYU, Jeff made the big move to LA to kickstart his movie career! He started off with some awesome opportunities, working under legendary directors like Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell. How cool is that?

His collaboration with Russell was a total game-changer! They teamed up on four amazing screenplays, including the iconic “I Heart Huckabees,” featuring the incredible talents of Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin. Talk about a powerhouse duo!

So, like, around this time, Baena totally shifted gears and started directing his own films! His first feature was this super fun horror-comedy called “Life After Beth,” which dropped in 2014 and starred some amazing talents like John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, and Aubrey Plaza. How cool is that?

Did you know that Baena was behind the camera for the 2016 movie “Joshy,” the 2017 gem “The Little Hours,” and the 2020 film “Horse Girl”? So talented!
